TRANSMUTACIÓN
Os saludo con gratitud,
Este escrito es una invitación a reflexionar sobre qué tipo de cultura queremos crear a través del arte. Tanto el ego individual como el ego colectivo se manifiestan hoy a través de ideologías separatistas e individualistas. Sin embargo, es mi sentir que se puede lograr una transmutación de carácter individual y una transmutación de tipo social.
La espiritualidad, la ciencia y el arte están intrínsecamente conectados son los pilares de la cultura y os invito a reflexionar sobre ellos. El misticismo es la experiencia espiritual íntima y directa de unión con la divinidad, más allá de la razón o de cualquier dogma. Implica también un estado de profunda transformación interior amor y una renuncia al ego para fundirse en la totalidad, en lo infinito.
Cada cultura tiene su dimensión mística, así:
- El sufismo es la dimensión mística y esotérica conocida como “el corazón del islam”
- La cábala es la dimensión mística del judaísmo
- La corriente centrada en la unión directa y transformadora del alma es la dimensión mística del catolicismo
- El advaita vendata (que significa “no dos”) es la dimensión mística del hinduismo. Por su parte, la dimensión mística de los pueblos originarios desde América, África, pasando por la India, es principalmente una conexión espiritual compartida con el cosmos y la tierra. Para estas culturas, la unidad no es un acuerdo social, sino una ley natural y sagrada. Basta con escuchar cómo se saludan estos pueblos cuando se encuentran:
- En la cultura maya el saludo “INLAKECH- HALAKEN”, uno dice “yo soy tu otro tu” el otro responde “tú eres mi otro yo”
- En la cultura lakota: “MITAKUYE OYASIN”, significa “todos somos parientes, yo soy uno con el todo”
- En la cultura náhuatl: “NOCHENDIS JUMI”, es “mi corazón se alegra porque te conozco”
- En la cultura mapuche el saludo: “MARI MARI KOM PU CHE”, quiere decir “buenos días, saludos a toda la gente”. De esta forma en esta tradición el saludo nunca es individualista
- En las culturas africanas zulú y xhosa: “UBUNTO”, significa “soy porque somos” “una persona es persona a través de las demás personas”.
- En el hinduismo se juntan las palmas de las manos y se las acercan al corazón: NAMASTÉ, que expresa: “lo divino en mi saluda lo divino en ti”
Así como todas las dimensiones místicas de todas las culturas comparten un núcleo experiencial idéntico, éstas chocan con las estructuras religiosas oficiales. Esta colisión se produce porque cuando la persona no necesita intermediarios para conectar con la divinidad: se acaba el “negocio” de la religión, sus jerarquías, la manipulación y únicamente quedan las herramientas útiles para ayudar a la realización del ser que es: aprender a conectar con ese éxtasis y amor divino, con ese trocito de infinito que todos llevamos dentro de nuestro corazón, nuestra alma.
Los místicos han promovido la unificación espiritual y fraternal de la humanidad desde hace aproximadamente 3.000 años. Su propuesta nació como consecuencia natural de la experiencia mística. Al alcanzar estados de conciencia profunda (lo que en diferentes tradiciones se llama iluminación, éxtasis o samadhi), el místico experimenta “una disolución del ego”, permitiéndole percibir que la separación entre los seres humanos es una mera ilusión y que en esencia toda la creación es una unidad. Todos somos extensiones de la misma fuente.
A partir de 1920, la ciencia se ha ido acercando a este concepto místico al demostrar matemáticamente la interconexión fundamental del universo en la mecánica cuántica.
El concepto más cercano a la “interconectividad total”, es hoy tal vez, el entrelazamiento cuántico, planteado teóricamente por Albert Einstein, Boris Podolsky y Nathan Rosen. Esta experiencia científica demuestra que dos partículas que han interactuado, quedan vinculadas de tal forma que lo que ocurre a una afecta instantemente a la otra, sin importar la distancia espacial entre ellas. Físicos posteriores como David Bohm propusieron la elaboración del concepto del “orden implicado”, sugiriendo que la separación de las cosas es una ilusión y que el universo es una totalidad indivisible.
Desde el punto de vista cosmológico, la teoría del Big Bang establece que toda materia y energía del universo observable provienen exactamente de un mismo punto de origen, una singularidad inicial de densidad infinita. En un sentido estrictamente físico y atómico, efectivamente cada átomo de tu cuerpo comparte la misma procedencia que el resto del cosmos.
Con estas palabras espero haber logrado poner acento en la importancia y necesidad de que exista un sentimiento de unificación entre culturas, espiritualidad y ciencia, para así poder realmente respetar la bella diversidad e imaginar una civilización humana donde todas las culturas conviven en paz.
Ahora viene la siguiente pregunta ¿cuál es el papel del arte en la cultura y civilización? La respuesta creo encontrarla en las palabras de Wadud Sabaté, quien en una conferencia titulada: “El Arte de Curar: El Alma del Sufismo” desarrollada en la Universidad de Zaragoza dijo:
“No hay arte cuando no hay objetivo o intención de transcender. No hay arte tradicional que no hable del mundo invisible, o que no sea escalera de ascensión a los cielos, o que no sea puente hacia el no visto o que sea guía hacia la compresión de lo incomprensible. Hoy en día el arte es precisamente no intencionalidad (…) la última tendencia es el arte sin sentido (…) El arte contemporáneo hoy no tiene nada que ver con el arte tradicional. No es un juicio, es una observación que nos tiene que dar a entender cuál es el papel del arte”.
Vivimos en una civilización que destruye a la naturaleza y que le llama a este ecocidio “progreso”, que crea guerras y genocidios para que la economía corrupta beneficie a unos pocos bolsillos. Una sociedad que alimenta ideologías ególatras y separatistas que promueven la competición, rivalidad y racismo. Todavía tenemos la oportunidad de conectar con el Amor a través de la espiritualidad, la ciencia y el arte, y lograr transmutar personalmente y colectivamente creando una cultura de paz, resuena en mi alma la frase de Platón: “donde reina el amor sobran las leyes”.

TRANSMUTATION
I greet you with gratitude,
This writing is an invitation to reflect on the kind of culture we wish to create through art. Today, both the individual ego and the collective ego manifest through separatist and individualistic ideologies. However, I feel that both individual and social transmutation can be achieved.
Spirituality, science, and art are intrinsically connected, they are the pillars of culture, and I invite you to reflect upon them. Mysticism is the intimate, direct spiritual experience of union with the Divine, transcending reason or any dogma. It also entails a state of profound inner transformation, love and a renunciation of the ego in order to merge with the Whole, with the Infinite.Every culture possesses its own mystical dimension; for instance:
– Sufism is the mystical and esoteric dimension known as «the heart of Islam.»
– Kabbalah is the mystical dimension of Judaism.
– The tradition centered on the direct, transformative union of the soul is the mystical dimension of Catholicism.
– Advaita Vedanta (meaning «not two») is the mystical dimension of Hinduism.
Meanwhile, the mystical dimension of indigenous peoples, from the Americas and Africa to India, is primarily a shared spiritual connection with the cosmos and the Earth. For these cultures, unity is not a social agreement, but a sacred natural law. One need only listen to how these peoples greet one another when they meet:
– In Mayan culture, the greeting «INLAKECH-HALAKEN» involves one person saying «I am your other self» and the other responding «You are my other self.»
– In Lakota culture: «MITAKUYE OYASIN» means «we are all related; I am one with the whole.»
– In Nahuatl culture: «NOCHENDIS JUMI» means «my heart rejoices because I know you.»
– In Mapuche culture, the greeting «MARI MARI KOM PU CHE» means «good morning, greetings to all people.» Thus, in this tradition, the greeting is never individualistic.
– In the Zulu and Xhosa cultures of Africa: «UBUNTU» means «I am because we are»—»a person is a person through other people.»
– In Hinduism, the palms are pressed together and brought close to the heart: «NAMASTE,» which expresses «the divine in me greets the divine in you.»
Just as the mystical dimensions of all cultures share an identical experiential core, they also clash with official religious structures. This collision occurs because, when an individual no longer needs intermediaries to connect with the divine, the «business» of religion, its hierarchies and manipulations comes to an end. What remains are simply the tools that aid in self-realization: learning to connect with that divine ecstasy and love, with that fragment of infinity we all carry within our hearts and souls.
Mystics have advocated for the spiritual and fraternal unification of humanity for approximately 3,000 years. Their vision emerged as a natural consequence of the mystical experience. Upon attaining states of profound consciousness, variously termed enlightenment, ecstasy, or *samadhi* across different traditions, the mystic experiences a «dissolving of the ego.» This allows them to perceive that the separation between human beings is merely an illusion and that, in essence, all of creation is a unified whole. We are all extensions of the same source.
Since 1920, science has moved closer to this mystical concept by mathematically demonstrating the universe’s fundamental interconnectedness through quantum mechanics.
Today, the concept closest to «total interconnectivity» is perhaps quantum entanglement—a phenomenon theoretically proposed by Albert Einstein, Boris Podolsky, and Nathan Rosen. This scientific finding demonstrates that two particles that have interacted become linked in such a way that what happens to one instantly affects the other, regardless of the spatial distance between them. Later physicists such as David Bohm proposed the concept of the “implicate order,” suggesting that the separation of things is an illusion and that the universe is an indivisible whole.
From a cosmological perspective, the Big Bang theory posits that all matter and energy in the observable universe originated from a single point, an initial singularity of infinite density. In a strictly physical and atomic sense, every atom in your body shares the same origin as the rest of the cosmos.
With these words, I hope to have underscored the importance and necessity of a sense of unity among cultures, spirituality, and science—enabling us to truly respect our beautiful diversity and envision a human civilization where all cultures coexist in peace.
This leads to the next question: what is the role of art in culture and civilization? I believe the answer lies in the words of Wadud Sabaté, who, during a lecture at the University of Zaragoza titled “The Art of Healing: The Soul of Sufism,” stated:
“There is no art where there is no objective or intention to transcend. There is no traditional art that does not speak of the invisible world, or that does not serve as a ladder for ascending to the heavens, a bridge to the unseen, or a guide toward understanding the incomprehensible. Today, art is precisely defined by a lack of intentionality (…) the latest trend is art devoid of meaning (…) Contemporary art bears no relation to traditional art. This is not a judgment, but an observation intended to help us understand the role of art.”
We live in a civilization that destroys nature, calling this ecocide “progress”, and instigates wars and genocides so that a corrupt economy may line the pockets of a privileged few. It is a society that fuels self-centered, divisive ideologies promoting competition, rivalry, and racism. We still have the opportunity to connect with Love through spirituality, science, and art, and to achieve personal and collective transformation by creating a culture of peace; Plato’s words resonate deeply within my soul: “Where love reigns, laws are superfluous (needless).”
